Seth Bullock, the hero of the HBO series "Deadwood," was a real person who was heroic in his own right. Though the series includes events that really happened, it also takes some license with his life.
Bullock did not, for instance, stand shoulder to shoulder with Wild Bill Hickok in a gunfight. He arrived in the South Dakota gold rush town the day before Hickok was killed by a shot from behind during a poker game.
