Twelve years ago when Harris publications launched Guitar World magazine, a monthly devoted to the guitar enthusiast, the new publication's prospects looked bleak. "We had a fresh idea, but it was akin to David and Goliath. The competition left little room for a new publication," recalls Dennis Page, executive publisher. Guitar World's then-novel concept of selling a guitar publication targeted at the youthful enthusiast through newsstands has proven successful. Twelve years since its debut, Guitar World has a monthly paid circulation of 155,000 copies, with more than 850 ad pages annually.
