Ops Upset Over PPV Olympics Promotion
NEW YORK - The Pay-Per-View Olympics TripleCast will offer subscribers a free universal remote control, a move that has annoyed some operators even though their participation is optional.
Operators often levy an extra monthly fee for rental of a remote control or hide the cost in their basic rate charge.
The TripleCast, which is backed by NBC and Cablevision Systems Corp., will offer the remote control device, which has a three-channel memory feature, as part of its February campaign, said Ellen Cooper, vice president of public relations for PPV Olympics.
