May 27--PETA, the animal rights group known for its outlandish ads and demonstrations, wants to display a billboard in Detroit targeting leather car interiors, but outdoor ad companies refuse to put it up.
It's all part of a campaign by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that targets German carmaker Mercedes-Benz for its use of leather in its car interiors. The billboard features a blood-splattered tire tread next to a tagline that says: "4 cows killed for every Mercedes leather interior."
