May 23--Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian services, opened a convention in Osaka on Sunday to discuss global issues such as poverty, education and health care.
About 47,000 people from around 100 countries and territories, including roughly 36,000 from Japan, are attending the four-day convention under the theme of "Lend a Hand," organizers said.
