Technically, yes, the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox replaces the Tracker, the little Suzuki-derived sport ute that long shored up the bottom of the Chevrolet SUV lineup. But just calling the Equinox a Tracker replacement seriously undervalues what Chevrolet has done with the Equinox.

First, there's the size. For those who don't need seven or eight seats and don't need to tow horse trailers, the Equinox is remarkably right-sized.
