May 20--Wellington's four golf courses are underused, and there aren't enough residents to support them.
To stay competitive, some courses regularly are offering discounts and special promotions -- a sign of an oversupplied market.
Those are among the findings in a draft of a National Golf Foundation report that paints a dire picture of golf in the village.
"The ratios are highly unfavorable," said Richard Singer, the foundation's director of consulting services. "It's clearly hampered by the fact that each golf facility does not have enough households around it to support golf operations."
