Many applications try to keep themselves, or one of their modules, running in your System Tray (the area near the clock) even when you're not using them. Most of these Startup items are placed here when you first install the program. If you only use them occasionally, you can prevent them from starting by using a handy freeware tool such as Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel. Visit www.mlin. net/StartupCPL.shtml to download it.
