DENVER _ In a near-empty stadium Thursday, the Colorado Rockies put forth a vacant performance in the second game of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After beating Pittsburgh 7-5 in the first game at Coors Field behind a solid performance by starting pitcher Shawn Estes, the Rockies' offense was silent in Game2 and their pitching gave up 21 hits in an 11-2 loss in the nightcap.
"We're getting basically what we ask for," Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said. "You can't sugarcoat it and you can't cosmetically dress it up a whole lot.
