Buoyed by the "Y2K madness," Emerald Consulting Group rapidly grew from two to 22 employees between its founding in 1996 and 2000. Better yet, the reseller was on an annual run rate that was approaching $5 million. Then came the dot-com bust, and the market sharply "retracted," recalls president Armand Brunelle.
Emerald quickly cut staff and expenses. It relied more on contractors, as well as the Epicor professional consulting force to assist with installs.
