Jun. 21--For some, surfing is a pastime; for Kerry Schwartz, it is a way of life.
The owner of Island Native Surf House, 700 Padre Blvd. in South Padre Island, started surfing 40 years ago and has not stopped since.
"Once you stand on a board for the first time, you're hooked," Schwartz said. "There is no better feeling than surfing."
