CHICAGO _ Jays Potato Chips has a new owner, and it happens to be Chicago's newest snack foods company.
Beginning Thursday, Ubiquity Brands will be the name of the new holding company over Jays Foods.
Jays was bought out of bankruptcy in March by private equity firm Willis Stein for an estimated $30 million.
Led by former Select Beverages Chief Executive Officer Tim Healy, Ubiquity will be the parent company of Jays as well as Lincoln Snacks, a Stamford, Conn.-based regional snack-food company known for its caramelized popcorn brands such as Fiddle Faddle and Poppycock. Willis bought Lincoln just before its Jays deal.
