Albert Lea, Minn., Will Get New Pork Plant.

Apr. 22--Quality Pork Processors Inc. and Hormel Foods Corp. plan to build and operate a 50,000-square-foot expanded pork-processing facility in Albert Lea, officials said this morning.

The boning and packaging facility, estimated to cost between $5 million and $6 million, will start with 100 employees and might employ 200 in the next two years, QPP President Kelly Wadding said.

"The location is the best one," Wadding said today. "(Albert Lea) presented a very nice package. I've been working with them on this project for a long time. They did an excellent job persuading the Hormel people that this was the right place."
