Jun. 22--Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. yesterday agreed to acquire Indiana-based Galyan's Trading Co., adding 47 stores to its 169-store chain and pushing it near the top of the fiercely competitive specialty sporting goods retail business.
The Findlay retailer, long number two in total sales, will jump from $1.47 billion to above $2.2 billion with the deal, putting it into a neck-and-neck race with long-time leader at $1.77 billion, The Sports Authority.
