RECENT BORDER SHOOTOUTS ACCIDENTAL - AZERBAIJAN
Azerbaijan has denied allegations that increasingly frequent shootouts on its border with Armenia are the result of either countries' policy.
"These events are accidental. I do not think this is some kind of far-sighted work or the element of some plan," Azerbaijani presidential chief-of-staff Ramiz Mekhtiyev told journalists.
The Defense Ministry has already issued a statement to this effect, he said.
At least one Azerbaijani officer has been killed and several others injured in border shootouts over the past few days.
