May 7--ATS Health Services, a Jacksonville-based company, has acquired St. Petersburg-based Universal Healthcare Staffing. The merger doubles the size and revenue of the local company, which will still be known as ATS.
Both companies provide medical professionals to fill staffing gaps but for different niches. Universal provides staffing for large facilities such as hospitals and assisted-living centers. ATS focuses more on home care and office staffing issues.
"The fit between our organizations was compelling," said Kay Cowling, president of ATS.
