Apr. 20--LA JUNTA, Colo. -- Landowners seeking conservation easements in Otero County met Monday with two appraisers who were recommended by the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCo) board.
Tim Walters of Walters and Associates in Alamosa, and Kevin McCarty of McCarty Land and Water Valuation, Inc. in Loveland discussed with nine landowners how to proceed with appraisals, which must be submitted to GOCo as part of their conservation easement applications.
In 2003, Otero County applied for and received a $1 million grant from GOCo. The county developed a process through which conservation easements could be evaluated.
