Maxwell Online's future seems murkier than ever. As ONLINE reported in its November issue, the company is for sale. But with Robert Maxwell's death under mysterious circumstances and the subsequent revelation that he was raiding the pension funds of his public companies to prop up his private holdings, the future of all the components of Maxwell Communications is in doubt. News stories in the popular and business press consistently fail to even mention the existence of the online operation, instead concentrating on the two largest properties, Macmillan Publishing and Official Airline Guide.
