Efforts to develop coalbed methane production in China have been under way for over a decade now, and while there have been a few modest successes, disappointments have been more common.
Nevertheless, US energy consultant Scott Stevens is convinced that China will eventually succeed in getting a viable coalbed methane industry up and running. Stevens, a vice president at Advanced Resources International, has worked closely with some of the country's coalbed methane pioneers, making 50 hips to China since the early 1990s.
