New magnesium gravity casting alloys have been designed for highly stressed components that operate at temperatures up to 300[degrees]C (570[degrees]F), according to a paper presented at the 2004 SAE World Congress. The paper was titled "High Temperature Mg Alloys for Sand and Permanent Mold Casting Applications" (SAE paper 2004-01-0656), and was prepared by B. Bronfin, E. Aghion, and N. Fantetti of Dead Sea Magnesium Ltd.; and F. Von Buch, S. Schumann, and H. Friedrich, of Volkswagen AG.
