The Argentinean government yesterday said that the tender offer for the 20-year concession to operate the Belgrano Carga freight railway company will be launched on 9 July 2004 and that bids must be submitted on 27 August 2004. The government will then select the pre-qualified bidders and the envelopes containing the economical bids will be opened between 10 and 21 September 2004. The process involves the sale of a 79% stake in the company. The Union Ferroviaria trade union, which has been operating Belgrano Cargas since the 1990's, will retain a 20% stake and the central government will hold the remaining 1% ...
