Apr. 18--A national do-not-call registry began operating only last fall, and already federal regulators claim success in reducing the telemarketing barrage on millions of homes across the country. For Lou Rosati, the initiative had an effect even earlier.
Rosati, 42, a software developer who lives in Deer Park, put his home phone number on a state registry early last year to shield himself from telemarketers' calls that often came during dinner. A decrease in the calls began quickly, before Rosati added his home number to the federal registry.
