CHARLESTON, S.C. _ The Confederacy buried the last of its Civil War dead here Saturday, laying to rest in Southern soil the long-lost crew of the legendary submarine Hunley in a glittering pageant of rebel remembrance.
Called "the South's secret weapon," the 25-foot hand-powered forerunner of American submarines was considered one of the South's last hopes of breaking the Union blockade of Charleston and scraping out a Confederate victory.
