In a new study, 3,000 16-year-olds will be tracked over five years in an effort to find out why children from welfare-dependent families become more likely than others to rely on income support as adults. Researchers at the Australian National University are collaborating with others at the University of Melbourne and the University of Wisconsin to investigate what causes welfare dependency to carry over from one generation to the next.
