PHILADELPHIA _ How intense is the rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees?
So intense that moments after joining the Red Sox in a November trade, pitcher Curt Schilling said: "I guess I hate the Yankees now."
So intense that Andy Pettitte, a Yankees pitcher for nine years, spurned an attractive free-agent offer from the Red Sox this winter mostly because he couldn't fathom going over to the other side. "That just wasn't me," Pettitte said.
