CORRECTION PUBLISHED 06/26/04: This story misstated the number of listeners for NPR's `Morning Edition.` The program has about 13 million listeners a week.
The couple arrived early for the event, hung their coats on the back of two chairs and headed for the restrooms. They paused for a few seconds, wondering if their coats would be safe.
"Don't worry," one of them said as they went on their way. "It's an NPR crowd."
For those unfamiliar with listeners of National Public Radio, they are members of a mostly white, middle-aged tribe who share a pensive look, as if they all just finished reading Leo ...
