Top U.S. Banks Showed a Surge Of 65% in Market Value for Year
Even before Wednesday's stock rally, banks were on a roll.
Market capitalization rose 65% last year for the 100 banks that Wall Street valued the most.
Among individual banking companies, the most noteworthy climb was by PNC Financial Corp. of Pittsburgh. It ranked seventh in market capitalization at yearend, up seven places on the strength of a 145% increase in value. (See ranking on page 10.) [Tabular Data Omitted]
