Mar. 30--A federal judge has dismissed claims by Peabody Energy Corp. that an electric utility violated a contract when Peabody moved to double its coal prices in 2001.
The dispute caused the utility, a subsidiary of American Electric Power Co. of Ohio, to terminate its contract with Peabody.
U.S. District Judge Charles Shaw of St. Louis last week dismissed a lawsuit filed by Peabody subsidiary Caballo Coal Co.
Caballo claimed that Indiana Michigan Power Co. violated the contract when it objected to Caballo's bid to raise prices in 2001.
