Apr. 3--Buffalo, N.Y.-based M&T Bank has inked a letter of commitment to help finance the renovation of the former Dallmeyer Cigar Factory in York.
The capital comes in the form of $4.1 million -- more than half of the money needed for the project, said Carol Kauffman of the Crispus Attucks Association, the owner of the building at 540 S. George St.
M&T is the largest bank in the York County market.
"This gives us what we need to get everything in place," Kauffman said. "This is a big step for us."
The nonprofit group plans to spend about $7.3 million to convert the former factory into a technology center ...
