International Greetings, the world's third-largest greetings card company, has launched into mobile, filing a patent on use of mobile applications in the sector.
The company this week launches its first range of greetings cards to feature a free ringtone, through WH Smith stores. It plans to add other retailers, such as Woolworths, as well as branch out into other mobile content, such as MMS and WAP.
The company has filed a patent for 'the supply and delivery of ringtones via greetings cards and other paper products'. Brand manager Dan Good pointed to Christmas crackers as another ideal medium for the delivery of mobile content.
