AMSTERDAM -- Liz is looking for new friends in Europe.
Detailing its plans to expand Liz Claiborne Inc. brands throughout the Continent at a press conference here Thursday, officials of Claiborne's Mexx subsidiary also expressed a sharp appetite for acquisitions.
"Hopefully, within a year, we should be able to do one transaction," said Rattan Chadha, chief executive officer of Mexx Holding Europe BV, which Claiborne acquired in 2001. "We're looking across Europeand at sectors where we don't already compete."
