FOR years it has been hailed as among the healthiest of foods.

Oily fish, with its combination of vitamins, proteins, minerals and Omega-3 fats, was said to be good for everything from our hearts to keeping our brains alert.

The problem, said dieticians, was that most of us did not eat enough salmon, trout, fresh tuna, herring, mackerel, kippers or sardines.

But now Government health experts are warning that you can have too much of a good thing.

The Food Standards Agency is concerned about the amount of industrial pollutants accumulating in the flesh of the oily species.
