JERUSALEM _ Borne on the shoulders of black-clad pallbearers, the coffin of George Khoury, an Israeli Arab college student, was carried into his family's house in East Jerusalem on Sunday amid the cries of grieving relatives.
The slaying of the 20-year-old student by Palestinian militants on Friday night exposed layers of the decades-old conflict here that has been raging with renewed intensity for more than three years.
Khoury was shot by gunmen as he jogged in French Hill, a Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem near his home. The neighborhood was built on land captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war.
