Mar. 21--Golden Triangle hospitals may have fewer beds and fewer staff than big city facilities, but hospitals here often get new drugs and devices in the same week.
About two weeks ago, a device that helps open clogged arteries was approved by the Federal Drug Administration for use nationwide. In fewer than 10 days, doctors here were using the device.
Getting new technology into Beaumont is basically determined by supply and demand.
If doctors here want the products and companies have them to sell Beaumont gets the new stuff quickly. Perhaps never as fast as Houston, but often within weeks of FDA approval.
