New Braunfels, Texas, May Take a Six-Month Siesta from Property Taxes.

Mar. 8--NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- Forget about the measly one extra day that leap year brought for 2004. For the taxpaying residents of this Hill Country city, Christmas may come early and last for six full months.

If Mayor Adam Cork has his way, residents will get a six-month property tax holiday -- part of the city's plan to get its fiscal year on track with everybody else.

"You would simply get a six-month void in your city property tax life," said City Manager Chuck Pinto. "We would use our reserves to carry us through those six months."
