Mar. 9--This year's Portland flower show was the most successful in the event's 16-year history, the show's producer said Monday, with one notable exception -- it didn't attract enough visitors to make money.
Organizers say it's too early to know what sort of flower show will be possible next year. But this year's financial loss suggests that any show will likely be scaled back and moved to a different location.
Preliminary figures indicate that 30,000 people came to the nine-day show, according to Paul Tukey, founder of People, Places & Plants magazine.
