CDR Roundup--Chain drug outlets, let by deep discounters, made significant gains in the hair care market in 1991 to stretch their lead against other retail channels. In eight product segments chain drug stores added at least 8 percentage points to their leading shares. The biggest gain, up 13 points, was in hairstyling products.

Drug chains lost market share in only one hair care subcategory: men's hair coloring. But even there they continued to lead all retailers.
