Toppan Printing Co Ltd has developed electronic paper with a high resolution of 400 pixels per inch (ppi).
The resolution is equivalent to a 1-inch QVGA with an array of 320 x 240 dots, and, according to the company, this represents the best resolution currently available in the industry.
The prototype Toppan Printing has unveiled employs electronic paper using an electrophoresis microcapsule method that has been co-developed with E Ink Corp of the USA.
This electronic paper consists of a "front board" coated by microcapsules holding black and white inks, and a "back board" that is a driving electrode.
