Jan. 29--TOKYO -- Fujitsu Ltd. reported a group net loss of 50.9 billion yen Thursday for the nine months ended Dec. 31, narrowing from a loss of 172.35 billion yen a year earlier.
The major Japanese computer maker ascribed the smaller net loss to one-time gains of 125.4 billion yen, mainly from the sale of its equity holdings in industrial robot maker Fanuc Ltd.
Fujitsu also credited the improved performance of its electronics segment, which returned to the black due to brisk sales of semiconductor products. The sales resulted in an operating profit of 14.3 billion yen in the segment against a loss of 28.6 billion yen a year earlier.
