Jun. 26--For decades, Kingwood was the dominant force in the northeast Houston housing market.
Friendswood Development created the neighborhood in the 1960s in a swath of forested land 20 miles northeast of downtown.
Within the next few decades, Kingwood sold 500 to 700 homes a year.
Now nearly built out, the master-planned community is no longer the only player in town.
