Mar. 1--In the city that never sleeps, New Yorkers demand the best service, food and fashion when they want it. Now they're watching TV when and how they like it.
The city's fast-forwarding to DVRs, TiVo-like digital video recorders built into cable boxes that let viewers pause, rewind, and fast-forward through live TV shows.
Since Time Warner Cable New York launched its DVR service in September, its customers can't get enough. So far, 50,000 have signed up and the cable giant's adding 2,000 more a week.
But buyer beware -- with DVRs taking off, at some point in the future Time Warner could even start tracking ...
