Feb. 26--FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Zimmer Holdings Inc. will close an Austin, Texas, plant by the end of 2005, transferring operations to locations including Warsaw. The former Centerpulse Orthopedics facility, which was acquired when Zimmer bought Swiss-based Centerpulse last year, employs about 550, including 340 in the manufacture of orthopedic implants. Production will be transferred beginning in August to Warsaw; Winterthur, Switzerland, and Ponce, Puerto Rico.
