Feb. 24--TOKYO -- Toyota Motor Corp. and Nissan Motor Co. posted hefty gains in domestic sales and sharp increases in overseas production in January, reflecting their strong showings in global markets, according to data released Tuesday by Japan's five major automakers.
Honda Motor Co. showed a strong rebound in domestic sales while Mazda Motor Corp. remained on a solid footing in its overall operations. However, Mitsubishi Motors Corp. reported slumping sales and production.
