Feb. 18--The Mashantucket Pequots, owners of Foxwoods Resort Casino, are lending money and expertise to two American Indian tribes in Maine that hope to run a slot machine operation at a harness track in Bangor.
The Mashantuckets would have 30 percent ownership in the joint venture with the Passamaquoddy and Penobscot tribes, which have proposed a "racino" at the Bangor Raceway. Horse and dog track operators throughout the country have installed slot machines over the past several years to offset declining revenues.
