Jun. 30--VISALIA, Calif. -- Hitching a train ride from downtown Visalia to Lemoore's naval base could be an option if area leaders find $66 million in government and private funding.
The Cross Valley Rail Corridor Joint Powers Authority study completed last week outlines the costs for the east-west passenger train service.
The study, conducted by R.L. Banks & Associates Inc. of Washington, D.C., found that infrastructure capital costs would total more than $66 million, and annual operation and maintenance costs would run about $4.7 million.
