Jun. 29--It's not the typical church fund-raiser.
But selling cardboard tanks that crackle and pop, or an item called the Exterminator that emits showers of sparks, can be quite profitable this time of year.
And folks at United Pentecostal Church on Piney Green Road rely on sales from their fireworks fund-raiser to make money to send to foreign missions.
Last year, the church raised more than $5,000 through fireworks sales. The money is divided between two programs -- Sheaves for Christ and Christmas for Christ -- said Betty Ann Bustard, ...
