Jun. 30--APPLETON, Wis. -- Few people know gaskets like Trudy Krueger.
Her career has centered on gaskets -- first 22 years with one Appleton manufacturer and since 1991 with Valley Gasket Inc., where she was recently named president.
Gaskets are unheralded items that are often overlooked until they make headlines like the ill-fated Challenger spacecraft O-rings. Made from a variety of materials, gaskets, however, are essential for making joints fluid-tight. Gaskets are made from rubber, felt and plastics, such as Teflon.
