PHILADELPHIA _ This really happened.
It was October 2001, and the Eagles had just finished beating the Cardinals in Tempe, Ariz., as Game 7 of the World Series was playing out in nearby Phoenix. A couple of red-eyeing Philadelphia sportswriters ended up watching the end of the Series in a bar at Sky Harbor Airport.
It was a remarkable scene. As passengers arrived from various cities, they rushed to the nearest TV to get caught up on the game.
