Article: Nauru hunger strike ends.

30 JUNE 2004 YAREN (Pacnews) ---- Seven Iraqi asylum seekers protesting over their detention on the tiny Pacific island of Nauru have abandoned their hunger strike.

The seven are among 260 asylum seekers currently on Nauru awaiting processing under the Australian government's Pacific solution.

Nauru government spokeswoman Helen Bogdan said the seven ended the hunger strike at the weekend, but maintained their protest against their detention.

She said she did not know the conditions of the men, but said four of them had been in hospital and were receiving an intravenous glucose drip before the hunger strike ended.
