Jul. 1--The cost of construction building blocks has been anything but concrete this year.
Another price increase, this one $5 per cubic yard of concrete, is scheduled to take effect today in Manatee County -- and to hit builders and buyers in their pocketbooks.
"Concrete pricing has been escalating for some time now, along with steel and wood. Material prices are escalating faster than we can get the permitting through," said Alan Zirkelbach, president of a Palmetto-based commercial constructor.
